Bio: Maven grew up with a single mother after his father left when he found out his mother was pregnant. When his mother found another man who got her addicted to drugs and abused both her and Maven, he got scared off when he too found out his mother was pregnant too with Stephanie.
Alone again, Maven never had a good male role model in his life and he too started getting afraid of having any actual attachments to people, especially romantic ones.
The only reason he never ran away was because of his sister and his mother never abused them. He was usually nonexistent until the evenings when Maven took care of feeding his family.
In high school he was a great student, marking up almost straight A's and got a scholarship to a university in the city they lived in.
When he was a senior in high school he was talking to his mother and sister at dinner when the topic of sexuality came up. He didn't find anything wrong with it when he explained how he was bisexual. Stephanie understood and didn't care, his mother wasn't as happy. Lecturing him about Hoe wrong it was to ever want to be with someone of the same gender and saying that he was choosing to be this way, it wasn't something he was born or raised with.
There was a tension between them after that and any time they talked it was a screaming match. Maven left and finished high school and stayed the summer at a friend's house.
Everything started to fall apart once he hit collage. Alone, living in a dorm with a stranger will ill intentions. The student soon twisting the innocent Maven as he fed him every attention, love and sweet endearment he could to make him fall in love. After he succeeded, he started abusing Maven, sexually, physically and emotionally. His only safe haven was in his books.
Learning enough about the mind he learned what he was going through wasn't right and started to fight back. Knocking him out after a confrontation everything changed even more.
Maven started dying his hair red and get into more illegal activity, finding his love for dissections and blood in general. Cutting people open or torturing for people that paid him too, he used that to pay for anything he needed.
Still after that he was still grouped into abusive relationships. Seeing he was always abused for just being him, he started believing it wasn't anything wrong with them, but with himself. Him being more submissive only encouraged the abuse. Being commonly referred to as a pet of the underground, someone to be used and discarded, always being kind and gentle until they got what they wanted.
His self-esteem plummeted the more this went on. One day when he was at the lowest, he got an email from Mallory. Saying he has a job for him.
Meeting with the information broker they came to an agreement. Mallory would get him his dream job at the city's research facility for inside information and using the lab he acquires to become a form of underground doctor for criminals, patching them up when needed. Even at times needing to do house calls and even plastic surgery to help a criminal skip town and start over with a new name and face.
Their relationship was a mix of business and pleasure, but Mallory never abused him. Calling him names or ignoring him from time to time, but never hit him and was only ever gentle with him when they were together. That's how he earned loyalty from Maven.
Maven understood they weren't together and was able to pursue and sleep with anyone else without repercussions from Mallory, as Mallory also did the same. Having the information broker to talk to and be with gave him confidence and was almost like a form of therapy for his troubles. Listening to Mallory's lectures about his self worth and how he hates submissive dogs. Which also encouraged Maven to be more confident and selfish.
